Products include the control system, softcheck tools – a 3D-measuring package checking fixture, the FARO arm 3D-measurement device which is portable and articulating with various mounting options, CAM2 software that brings everything together.

Dan covered some of their customer’s needs and how they were able to help them.

The FARO arm is capable of measuring large parts that cannot be done by standard CMM. Dan performed a live presentation.

Lunch break -   The lunch provided by EDS was excellent. The box lunch choices were Turkey, Roast Beef, Pastrami and Ham.

The Meeting reconvened at about 12:45PM with the Training sessions.

Training Instructor John Shuba of EDS covered UDF, Spreadsheet Applications and Shape Studio.

¨      The first to session was UDF “User Defined Features”. Some attendees seemed to have a powerful understanding of this feature, and many were eager to learn how to create “Part Families”.

¨      As the variables used in part families are often organized in a spreadsheet this naturally led to the next session covering spreadsheets. This was particularly helpful to our company, as we were looking for a more convenient way to organize point clouds.

¨      The Third and final session involved “Shape Studio” which was helpful in designing artistic surfaces. This module has powerful features that allow the designer to have great control over shapes, and tools to analyze the quality of surfaces. A flexible but limited analysis module was demonstrated. The advantage of this seems to be that engineers with limited knowledge of stress analysis can use it and is much simpler than traditional tools. It is limited to rough calculations for Industrial designers while using Shape Studio.

An Open Forum was held for Q&A following the sessions. After a series of interesting questions the official meeting was brought to a close
