Meeting Minutes, November 3, 2006 Orlando
Fl. Users Group Meeting
Thank you all who attended our Nov 3, 2006 meeting in Orlando
it was a great success.
Continental breakfast and coffee was made available prior
to the start of the meeting.
Our meeting started with Joe Martinez opening introduction,
and announcement of 3D Connexion sponsoring a Space Pilot as a giveaway,
also the announcement of the upcoming PLM World Conference in Long Beach
Ca. April 23-27th , 2007.
John Shuba addressed the agenda by starting out with an
intro to Industrial Design free formed surface overview he touched on subjects
such as intelligent lines versus conventional lines the creating and editing
of compound surfaces, positioning and editing curves directly on compound
surfaces, John Shuba was instrumental in covering a wide area of new features
related to curve creations in NX4.
Shortly after his presentation he followed thru with variable
blend creations in shape studio this was most impressive as we learned the
new additions to creating blends on inconsistent compound type surfaces and
the simplicity of controlling blend parameters.
Simulations and Machining was based on a model that John
used as an example to apply a 200 lbs load, this involved steps and process
applications to achieve the results needed. His model reflected the loads
and stresses in a simulation mode, which proved to be most impressive. The
machining process and techniques were also applied in a comprehensible
fashion that was well received by the users.
After these presentations we took a break for lunch and
camaraderie, discussed, shared and answered certain applications with each
other.
We then continued with Data Management, this area raised
a lot of questions related to the checkout process and storing of data. We
were able to pull together as a group and support each other in combining
experiences and suggestions. John was instrumental in answering questions,
his presentation presented solutions to a lot of our questions.
Shortly after this presentation John followed with Aerospace
Sheet Metal forming.
This presentation allowed us to see the simplicity of this
application and the variable solutions to multiple relief cut type methods,
and the editing of parameters related to the constant changing of angles
and bends.
